4Ms Mobility for Clinicians
Mobility, the ability to move in one’s home and community, is closely related to physical health and quality of life. Impaired mobility is linked to falls, reduced independence, long-term hospitalization, nursing home placement, and death. In this learning course, we provide information about mobility and older adults.

Target Audience
This course is geared towards clinicians. For non-clinician health system employees, please exit this course and complete the course titled "4Ms Mobility for Non-Clinician Health System Employees." Once the course is complete, you will be asked to complete a post-test and evaluation before receiving a Continuing Education Certificate.
Learning Objectives
After completing this course, which is geared towards clinician health system employees, learners will be able to:
- Identify the benefits of physical activity
- Describe the negative effects of impaired mobility and deconditioning
- Identify fall risk factors
- Define the importance of conducting mobility screening and asking older adults about falls
- Help older adults stay mobile and reduce fall risk at home as well as in the hospital
- Identify the dangers of compounding fall risk
- Use multidisciplinary teams to reduce fall risk
