Culturally Responsive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Older Adults

This five-part series, offered in partnership with the E4 Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health Disparities in Aging, introduces mental health practitioners to the “basics” of providing culturally sensitive cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to older adults experiencing depression and/or anxiety. Course components follow a logical sequence: getting started in CBT; learning about skills necessary to do effective CBT including emotion-focused strategies, behavioral activation, and cognitive reframing; and handling termination. The course contains many practical examples and case vignettes to help providers use this information in their practice. Successful completion of all five modules is the first step for those who want clinical case consultation, which will enable them to implement this information with their ongoing clients/patients. That clinical case consultation is available from the Optimal Aging Center (https://www.optimalagingcenter.com/); please consult the website for further information. Learners interested in viewing the videos without pre-post assessment or obtaining a certificate can view them on the E4 Center website (https://e4center.org/webinars/).

PLEASE NOTE: There is NO CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT available for this course. Learners who complete the pre-test (30 questions) and then score at least an 80% on each of the post-tests, will receive a certificate of completion only.
