Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) Training for Senior Center Staff

Funded by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), this training is designed to provide information to senior center staff about brain health, ADRD issues, prevention, linkages to care, and the importance of supporting caregivers of individuals with dementia.
This FREE 60-minute ADRD Training for Senior Center Staff is offered by the Illinois Department of Public Health and contains the following brief modules:
- Dementia Basics
- Helping an older adult who is confused and disoriented
- Empathy
- Talking with Family of an Older Adult about Memory Concerns
Learning Objectives
- Basics of dementia
- Symptoms of different kinds of dementia
- Risk factors and ways to prevent dementia
- Process of diagnosis and treatment of dementia including care planning
- Scenarios common to senior center staff in addressing the needs of people with dementia
- Resources for those living with dementia and their caregivers
