Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) Training for Transportation Workers

Enhance your impact in supporting individuals with dementia with this specialized educational module on Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD), developed by leading experts at RUSH University Medical Center in collaboration with transportation workers. Funded by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), this training is designed to provide information to transportation workers about brain health, ADRD issues, prevention, linkages to care, and the importance of supporting caregivers of individuals with dementia.

 

This FREE 60-minute ADRD Training for Transportation Workers is offered by the Illinois Department of Public Health and contains the following brief modules:

  1. Dementia Basics
  2. Helping an Older Adult Who is Lost and Confused
  3. Helping an Older Adult Who is Confused and Upset
  4. Responding to Repeated Questions with Empathy

  1. Basics of dementia
    1. Symptoms of different kinds of dementia
    2. Risk factors and ways to prevent dementia
    3. Process of diagnosis and treatment of dementia including care planning
  2. Scenarios common to transportation workers in addressing the needs of people with dementia
