Target Audience
This course is geared towards clinicians. For non-clinician health system employees, please exit this course and complete the course titled "Depression for Non-Clinician Health System Employees." Once the course is complete, you will be asked to complete a post-test and evaluation before receiving a Continuing Education Certificate.
Learning Objectives
After completing this course, which is geared towards clinician health system employees, learners will be able to:
- Recognize the symptoms of major and mild depression
- Describe rates of depression
- Identify risk factors for depression and suicide
- Know treatment options for depression in older adults
- Know steps to follow in cases where older adults are experiencing suicidal ideation
- Describe depression treatment options
- Be able to discuss treatment options with older adults in a manner that increases engagement and reduces stigma
