Common Challenges in Family Caregiving

Providing care for a family member or friend can be incredibly challenging and incredibly rewarding. This module describes some of challenges many family caregivers face – including identifying themselves as a family caregiver, as well as the importance of self-care and advocacy for themselves and the person they are caring for.

  • Understand the importance of identifying a family caregiver when working with older adults
  • Identify the challenging aspects of caregiving
  • Discuss ways caregivers can advocate for themselves and their care recipient
